Like many of you, my control box for the Purple Power Base fried. I took the control box apart and found undersized FETS were the culprit. That means (IMHO) that an expensive replacement will likely suffer the same fate unless it's been redesigned. I decided to build my own. I've had this in place for months, and because of its simple design, it should be basically unkillable.

Pros:

- Gives the ability to raise/lower the head/legs, and even keep the LED lights if you want to.

- simple design eliminates the original control box and any/all delicate circuitry.

- NO cutting of the wires on the Power Base; plug 'n play (after you build it of course)

- Uses the included 24v power adapter of the original; again, no cutting.

- Badass off-roader aesthetic

Cons:

- You give up the wireless remote control, memorized positions, and the vibration.

- Badass off-roader aesthetic

You'll need:

- A rudimentary knowledge of DC circuits.

- Soldering iron, heat gun, shrink tube, wire strippers.

- The parts listed below.

Steps:

- Unplug everything from the control box (no cutting!)

- Remove the original control board and discard or save as a paperweight.

- Build the control box as detailed in the pictures.

I used the following parts in conjunction with the 24v adapter for the existing control board. The upper/lower bed adjustment motors have mechanical stops, making this a pretty easy build if you have a basic understanding of DC circuits. With this setup you give up the remote, memorized positions, and the goofy vibration features. You can keep full adjustment, and the LED lights if you choose. This is a super basic setup and should last basically forever.

Project/switch box, keep one of the three included on/off switches for LED lights if you want them, remove the other 2. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09SL1YPRD?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details

These have the right plugs to adapt to the under the bed connections without cutting anything: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DV1Z4EQ?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details

These aren't necessary but are handy for making removable connections: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FJPMML6?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details

Cloth wire harness tape to bundle up the wires and make it look better:
