Le Sigh. I dunno....after actually reading this, calling this sales of donkey meat is a bit of a stretch.
The lead in the story is a woman purchasing TCM (traditional chinese medicine) supplements in capsule form.
CLICKY. This is the actual product that kicked this off.
Sure, it says 100% herbal on the label which also has 'made in the USA at a FDA registered facility' which is meant to mollify those that fear that this product was sourced at a wet market. I am shocked SHOCKED that a chinese product is not 100% consistent with it's labeling. They need to fire their proofreader for not understanding what an herb is vs dead donkey skin.
That said, the amounts are minute (they allude to a concentrated formula that makes a 500mg cap have the benefits of 2500mg of ingredients so instead of the 250mg listed, it appears to be 50mg or approx 10% of the contents of the cap.
Take 10-12 a day as recommended and you might be up to 1/2 a gram or 1/12th of a teaspoon per day of dried processed powdered . . gelatin.
Yes, it's essentially gelatin - made from the skin. Not muscle fibre aka 'meat'. If you have ever had a cup of Jello - you are eating animal skin. Usually cows - beef.
Of course, the lady freaking out is a vegetarian and none of this means a thing. I get it.
The reason I am dissapoint is because my go to snack product " Ass Hide Glue Lumps " is no longer available on Amazon.
I am, as you would surely understand, very sad right now.
I went to check this, and you're right. This product seems to be exactly what it's described to be.
This person is also very naive: “Why would Amazon sell something that cruel?” They also own Whole Foods, which very openly sells meat.
copypasta from another thread:
