I also checked whether you can use generic batteries in drones though my sources are quite shitty. Overall, you might be able to find generic batteries that would work but it's not recommended. Plus this drone is 40 bucks, I wonder what the price for the batteries would be - it just might not be worth it. Hope this helps.

Edit: just saw your question - I do believe the batteries should be shaped exactly the same way! And ideally you would order them from the manufacturer but since this is more of a toy ( still great for beginners), I doubt you'll be able to find them directly from the company. I wouldn't advise you to try other batteries... Better safe than sorry.
