There was a discussion last week about low cost trailcams. Since then I purchased two Gardepro A3 cameras with 1080p video and all the typical features. So far I'm quite pleased with video quality and cameras. Now I'll have to see if they survive the rainy Oregon winter. It's even a no-glow.

When each 10 second segment begins there is a popping/crackle sound but that only happens when I combine them to one video. When I play each segment separately there is no pop, so I'll have to figure that out. Otherwise audio is good too. I took this sample in my driveway 50 feet from the house.

There are many cameras on Amazon for less than $100, some even less than $70, that can do the job you're looking to do. Most have unknown brands as they are made/sold by China firms. Service will be non-existent (except Amazon's 30 day money back) but with a low cost camera that isn't a big concern. I've taken a lot of good videos on those clone cameras.

I always look for minimum specs of 1080p video, 12MP photo or better, make sure it uses standard sized SD cards (no micro-SD) and AA batteries.

I wouldn't buy one under say $50. I need some cameras too so I'll post again if I see good prospects. I just saw this one (not Amazon) with good specs for only $ 23.00. Here is another one for $39 that looks like a clone used by many sellers. The nice thing about Amazon is they are good at the 30day money back guaranty in case you get junk.

Here is that same common clone design, nice specs for $50 on Amazon. Includes 12 month warranty, no-glow. I like this one for $59, I ordered one.

It's probably raccoons eating cat food--they love it. Or possums. Raccoons find it first.

I used these this year and they work great. Got rained on every day and checked them in pouring rain. Nothing ever went wrong.
