raspberry pi will output composite thru the headphone jack with this cable:

load MP4Museum on the pi's sd card:
then all you have to do is convert your video files to MP4, throw them on a USB drive in alphabetical order you want them to play, insert the drive into the pi, boot and have fun!
note: this solution doesn't give you much control over the video playback, but it's cheap and compact. I used to carry a PS2 to shows with me but that got old real fast. For the price you could even get a couple pi's and insert a mixer into the chain to keep it spicy.
Yeah, it's completely plug and play (unless you've made changes to the config files to force HDMI, which was what happened to me).
