USB is going to tank any sort of performance that the drive brings, so just a decent enclosure that can take whatever drive your looking at. Probably this drive in this enclosure.
Sorry I didn't see this. Yea you gotta buy the external case. It's 8.99. You just put the card in it then plug it in with the usb cord it comes with.
It absolutely helps but it has to be a Solid State Drive, not just an external hard drive. I bought this Samsung one back in April and it is actually $12 cheaper than when I bought it. Since that was months ago, someone might have a more current example of which is currently the best on market. I've been very happy with it though.

You are going to have to go android. I will refrain from commenting on apple. I have a Pi 400 but just isn't as good as a dedicated android streimer.
I use the Nvidia Shield, Logitech K830 keyboard. I have kingston SSD in a 2.5" sata external case for cheap storage since had it available. But you want cheep grab a 4k amazon stick or Mi box. You can use an OTG dongle with ethernet USB splitter and have ethernet, usb for storage, keyboard etcetera.

Powered is what I used.
This is what I use.

Sabrent 2.5-Inch SATA to USB 3.0... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OJ3UJ2S?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf $9.99
I posted about this almost a year ago now and a lot of people from here have bought this set up now. Enjoy!
If you're looking for a cheaper alternative that's worked great for me...here ya go. It's an 256GB SSD and an enclosure (it just clips right in, takes two seconds) it's $42.98 before any taxes for the combo.

Thank you for mentioning MX500! Just read about it and it looks like it's much better than the SSD I was going to buy. I'm going with MX500 instead :)
Do you have this one: https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Tool-free-Enclosure-Optimized-EC-UASP/dp/B00OJ3UJ2S
I'm reading that it feels very cheap and bad plastic quality. Is that true (If you have this one)?
yea cancel that its a HDD. this is the SSD i use. https://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Power-Performance-Internal-SP256GBSS3A55S25/dp/B075RJS55D/ref=sr_1_7?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1529218664&sr=1-7&keywords=SSD

Just a random ebay enclosure from China. Most people get this one

You won’t find anything better for under a $100
Side Note: I have an OG Xbox One, buildings were never loaded before SSD. Now I compete with my buddy’s One X and even load back in quicker than him if I crash. Worth the hundo bro.
For an Xbox or PS4 you don't need the highest end. Ssd: 1tb https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D998212/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_hglWCb4JE43CJ SSD
Case: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OJ3UJ2S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_JklWCbPKETZGN
I have 3 of these cases, I use a 480gb SSD on my oneX and I have a 240gb SSD for my wife's oneS.
In my experience, Samsung makes quality products. I can't vouch for their SSDs but I would say it's most likely reliable but that price seems absurd my dude.
Here's what I use:
Sabrent SATA to USB 3.0 Enclosure
If you want to go with a Samsung SSD, I would say get this with the Sabrent enclosure above. The difference between the Western Digital SSD, I own and linked, versus the Samsung one may be negligible but I went with Western Digital because their HDDs are tried and true and failure rate on them has been significantly less, in my experience, than let's say Seagate.
I got mine from ebay but here’s one from amazon
Yes, through the Raspberry Pi and RaSCSI. My current setup. Please don't mind the HDD just hanging out, my external enclosure is on its way. The cable on the left is the DB 25 cable that connects to my PM 7500/100 (external SCSI DB 25). One big advantage of using the RPi is I created a WiFi bridge, sharing its internet over the Ethernet port.
(Edit) the device underneath the RPi is a TP-Link 5 port switch . I just realized the angle I took the picture sucks.
This is perfect! Thank you so much!!
So you have this SSD and then this enclosure, right?
So theoretically if I wanted more space I could go with this 1TB SSD?
Well, there's nothing stopping you from putting it in an enclosure and seeing if it works:
I don't own either of these devices, and have no idea how well they work. I also have no financial connection to either company or Amazon. I just searched Amazon for "SSD enclosure" and these were the first two of each type that came up.
I would recommend not going super cheap. Also consider what other games have extremely long load times or frequent load screens, as this can provide some benefit to those games as well and doesn't have to be a purchase strictly for PUBG. This is what I got when I first switched to an SSD.
SSD: https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Ultra-NAND-250GB-Internal/dp/B071KGRXRH
Enclosure: https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Tool-free-Enclosure-Optimized-EC-UASP/dp/B00OJ3UJ2S
I later replaced it with a 1TB SSD, would recommend something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-BX500-NAND-2-5-Inch-Internal/dp/B07YD579WM
I bought this one recently. Its a little expensive, but its an official one made for xbox one by seagate, so decided to spend the extra money to get it as i had gift cards i needed to use anyway.
If you want one thats much cheaper that should work just as good, get this one:
I’m fairly certain what you ordered is just a mounting bracket for installing the ssd in a computer. You need a SATA III to usb3.0 external enclosure.
This is the one that I, as well as several other people are using. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00OJ3UJ2S/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1525812131&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=sabrent+2.5-inch+sata+to+usb+3.0+tool-free+external+hard+drive&dpPl=1&dpID=31nOEoFxlKL&ref=plSrch
Thank you! After more research, I purchased this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OJ3UJ2S and this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08QBJ2YMG that I think will work just as well correct?
I bought this SSD for just over $30 Silicon Power 256GB SSD 3D NAND... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075RJS55D?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
And then this case all for under $50 Sabrent 2.5-Inch SATA to USB 3.0... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OJ3UJ2S?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Totally worth it in my opinion. Buildings and weapons are loaded in when I drop on all of the maps :)
Microsoft says to use an external drive, it MUST BE 256GB or larger.
He’s the one I use.
KingSpec 256GB SSD 2.5 Inch Hard Drive SATA3 Internal Solid State Drive P3-256 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076BM28CF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_zfF8Ab6ZAKX5Z
And it’s case
Sabrent 2.5-Inch SATA to USB 3.0 Tool-free External Hard Drive Enclosure [Optimized For SSD, Support UASP SATA III] Black (EC-UASP) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OJ3UJ2S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_jgF8AbAX7TENT
This is the one I use. SanDisk Ultra 3D NAND 250GB, selling for $52.99 right now on Amazon. Paired with the Sabrent Tool-free external hard drive enclosure, selling for $9.99 right now on Amazon.
Let me fix this:
It is well known that flash drives can have compatibility issues with the Wii.
The best way to go is an internal HDD and an enclosure, not an adapter. An adapter will technically work, but it doesn't protect the drive at all.
Most laptop drives are 2.5", and most ones are SATA, unless you got it from an extremely old laptop.
For 2.5" SATA drives, this is the enclosure we recommend: https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Tool-free-Enclosure-Optimized-EC-UASP/dp/B00OJ3UJ2S
I now have 3 of these, they all work well.
SSD : https://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Power-Performance-Internal-SP256GBSS3A55S25/dp/B075RJS55D
Enclosure : https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Tool-free-Enclosure-Optimized-EC-UASP/dp/B00OJ3UJ2S
Together, they are pretty cheap. Just pop the SSD in the enclosure, plug in, and you’re good to go.
Not sure what conflicting answers you speak of.
Any modern/new SSD of 256GB or more will suffice. Whether that's an internal or external is up to you. An internal will need an adapter that transfers it's connection to USB 3.
Name brands MAY last longer than a cheap off brand, but the data in test results doesn't really support that. I use an external Samsung T5 but only because I got it for a birthday present. Most of my friends have Amazon specials that cost far less and so far have given the same results in PUBG.
Recommended:
Better if they spend $10 and get an external enclosure.
240GB. Let me look at my past posts and see if I can find the link. Comes in today! Come on delivery guy.
Edit: Found it. You’ll need the enclosure as well.
240gb SSD https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0719D9YL7
Enclosure https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00OJ3UJ2S?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_pd_title
Cheap Route $41 for SSD and Enclosure
256 SSD, $31.99, (search the amazon reviews of this product, people reference PUBG lol)
and Enclosure, $9
This is the enclosure I have. Per your post, perhaps put the LED light side down if you don't want to look at it(or search amazon and pick a different one).
Plug in SSD to enclosure, plug into xbox, xbox will ask to format, format for games, move PUBG to external SSD. Make sure it is not just copied but moved, so it is for sure running from the SSD.
I recommend the Sabrent enclosure: https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Tool-free-Enclosure-Optimized-EC-UASP/dp/B00OJ3UJ2S
Cheap and works really well. I have like 4 of them.
SSDs on the Wii are a waste of money. The speed is limited to USB 2.0 anyway, so you won't get a speed boost compared to an HDD.
Crucial P3 4TB NVMe ssd is available on amazon US for $199.99 & is fine as a secondary NVMe/storage drive. Crucial 4TB MX500 sata ssd is available for $216. You can use these NVMe drives in enclosures like these:
https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Type-C-Tool-Free-Enclosure-EC-SNVE/dp/B08RVC6F9Y/
Similarly for sata ssd:
https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Tool-free-Enclosure-Optimized-EC-UASP/dp/B00OJ3UJ2S/
Only minor issue with these enclosures is lack of ventilation so not so good heat dissipation but if using in a cold environment or just using it while taking the cover off then these work fine.
You can use any software to take backup but if you want to take "drive image" backup which incl entire partition/OS drive then imaging software are required else if you just want backup of folders & files then any copy/sync software will do the job but keep in mind that by default many copy softwares/windows default copy doesn't preserve time stamps of files & folders while copying across drives so use a software that allow preserving time stamps of files & folders.
Had to buy the enclosure separately but it includes the cable. I got mine from ebay but this one seems like the most popular one in this sub.
