As someone who just started airbrushing, it's quite easy to get great looking results, assuming you have the budget for the equipment. I'll link the $40 airbrush kit I found on YouTube/Amazon in a bit. Then I've seen small pumps for $50 or less, and paints go a long way for being $3 bottles.

This is a hell of a deal and should get you back up and running with quite a few extras. That is if you're willing to do non name brand.

From a non-expert airbrush user, I ended up purchasing a Iwata Eclipse HP CS last year but never got around to using it yet (its been over a year). I was a bit gun-shy as I had absolutely zero experience with it and simply bought that model on research, price and youtube vids and recommendations. Feeling a bit overwhelmed, not willing to bust up or break my $150 expenditure, I ended up purchasing a Beater airbrush to get my feet wet with priming and simple single coat jobs.

This was primarily influenced by Barbatos Rex's review and the price of the kit ($40). Sidenote, there was an issue with one of the initial runs of the kits that was corrected by the time I ordered mine I was willing to cut my teeth on a $40 kit versus my $150 kit.

Combined with an inexpensive AS-186 type compressor (with tank) I've built up enough confidence to go way beyond priming.

Even if I were just priming with this setup, the control over priming with the airbrush versus rattle-can is simply night and day. If I were doing a couple Warhammer armies, I would definitely look towards this kind of setup, versus the $18 cans of Citadel primer.

If you have good luck with the inexpensive cans of primer, then the airbrush route, for priming, is a tougher sell.
