In fact I do have experience with this!
If you're looking for a DIY solution, I'd strongly recommend one of the aftermarket plug-in systems (I think infotainment dot com is one I evaluated). It's certainly possible to install a factory backup camera at home but I promise you that it is a horrible, awful, evil, terrible, no-good task. The wire splices on the BCM are just fucking miserable. I did the factory install myself and wish I'd gone aftermarket.
If you add a backup camera (either from a factory or aftermarket kit) you will have to have the truck programmed to use it. Every dealer I called wanted $150 to do this, which seemed awfully steep to me as it is literally the work of 30 seconds. Instead, when I did mine I bought this OBD device and the AlfaOBD app. This allowed me to program the truck myself.
Together both of those pieces were expensive, but a bit cheaper than going to a dealer. The upshot, however, is that I own both of those components and can now use them to make changes to this or other vehicles at my leisure.
All said, if you want to integrate this with Uconnect you're going to be looking at around $400-500 by the time you're done if you do it all yourself.
