Where did you purchase it from? Can you return it as defective? I ended up switching over to a similar on regulator a couple of weeks ago for my Torpedo Keg. I did experience the same thing you did but though it was leaking from my Beer Tap but it looks like this regulator (if the same exact one I have) may have an issue. My new regulator seems more sensitive and steady which is great and its been holding pressure (about 8 psi) for about a week now.

This is the one I purchased, but it looks sold out. There are ones that look identical but under different brand name. My bet is they are all the same. Hearing your issue with CO2 disappearing from the mini-reg, I am thinking there is definitely an issue. I just assumed it was the BT which I am no longer using.
