First, open up your wall switch plates or outlet plates to see if things are already wired for switched outlets. Whoever wired my house was infatuated with 3-way switches and switched outlets, which is fucking annoying, because half the outlets in our house (read: the top plug in every outlet in the living room, my game room, and the master bedroom) are switched, and several of these are on 3-way setups. I understand the 'why' of it and I honestly appreciate that it was wired that way, but also it's damned annoying when somebody bumps a switch and in the process turns off some device, and spreading myself thin using power strips to on all and only the lower plugs. Only this past week did I undo all of that wiring, rendering several switches inactive and both plugs on all outlets unswitched. When we sell this house I doubt I'll wire it back, but the buyer will hopefully be pleasantly surprised to see that the option is already in place.

Second, the AI-enabled smart switches or outlets can be used by more than one person or by more than one person's phone app. We have several Echo devices, and once I set up a routine, any of them can carry it out. The routines can be a voice command as simple or as complicated as you want.

Third, if you really want a solution that does not rely in any way on an app (i.e. on a phone), the previous generation of 'smart' plugs can work. We have these older devices called a 'Super Switch' (this link is for a current model which is much fancier than our old one). They use an RF (maybe IR) remote to toggle a plug, and this might work for your needs. You could tether or mount them to the wall, or maybe even figure a way to use a switch connected to an IR or RF blaster to copy that function.
