Hi all. I'm a relative beginner and still learning with my d5600. Got my first remote shutter release recently.

It has both a wired and a wireless mode: there are shutter release buttons on both the receiver that plugs directly into the accessory terminal on the camera and on the wireless transmitter. The transmitter and receiver themselves are working and talking to each other (lights flash red/green as expected when half-pressing/full-pressing the shutter release on either of them).

But the camera itself is totally non-responsive when I try the shutter release from either device. Doesn't auto-focus, don't take a shot, doesn't show any errors or any kind of reaction on the screen, nothing (though it takes photos as normal with the shutter button on the actual camera body, of course).

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I tried searching for settings I may need to enable but can't find anything. Any thoughts or ideas from you fine folks?
