26" may be a problem, as it has been considered old for a few minutes. I'm assuming 1 1/8 straight steerer tube. Two suggestions:

• Rockshox Recon Silver TK @ $200,is probably the only decent rim brake compatible unit on the market. (Also does disc. I have this on a ~2010's HT with the rim brake mounts removed.)
• Fox cheaper brand (Manitou Markhour) @ $300. Disc only. This appears to have damper control top-right stanchion, whereas the above RS has on/off only (TK).

QR hub means that it takes a skinny bit of metal with "Quick Release" clamps. (The metal goes through a hole in the axle, and squeezes the sides of the fork/frame to the wheel to hold the wheel in. Also known as 9mm.) I expect that is what you have now & are not planning to replace the wheel. Most through axles are thicker.
