Bruntom is the best quality/brand compass there is. This compass I got off amazon is the best priced compass and is literally functions the same is identical in size and style to a brunton. My school provided bruntons for us (they are $400-$600).

This one is $30 on amazon and I can't stress enough that it is literally the same as a brunton. A bit lighter is all. Strikes , dips, attach to jacobs staff. All the functionality of a brunton, for 1/10 of the price.
