I would not listen to those who say that a road bike is not designed to take a kick stand. Yes, many cyclists would prefer not to have one but that's really a personal preference issue. To me its akin to having MTB pedals on your roadie. If you don't mind the extra weight, there's nothing wrong with having a kickstand on your road bike.

Have you tried this BV Bike kickstand from Amazon? I used to have it on my Scott Speedster. Back when I would ride into work, I preferred not to have my frame rest on the bike rack; my solution was a kickstand. I did eventually take it off and put it on my Wife's Liv Avail with no issues.
