This will be controversial, but I've seen the RJ45-to-Serial models recommended over and over on here and...I don't find them necessary. Laptops don't come with serial ports anymore, 99% of the time, and I've seen way more issues and hangups trying to get a dongle to work with the correct drivers, or even trying to fit that mess of cable in a bag. Also, the laptops that do have serial ports tend to be very thick, chunky, and heavy, which isn't great for using on-the-go or finding a spot to prop it up in or near a network/server rack. I've yet to see a situation (other than one, older Brocade switch that required its proprietary console cable) where RJ45-to-USB cables weren't superior to the RJ45-to-Serial cables of yore.
Airconsole is neat, but always have a physical/non-battery backup. I've used this one, in both that USB-C model and also their USB-A model, for a while and can't recommend them enough. It's also driver-less (meaning, just plug it in and it works) on any modern Windows, Mac, and/or Linux machine that I've plugged it into. I went through a bunch of shittier ones that somehow broke or stopped working, but this one trucked along and worked across most major vendors (Cisco, Palo Alto, HPE Procurve & Comware, Aruba, Dell, Linksys, Mellanox) except for that older Brocade switch model. It has that little sheath over the tab on the RJ45 which is a god-send. Sometimes, the console port is in a weird spot and you have to finagle the cable in and out. With cables lacking a sheath on the tab, the tab would get caught on things all the time and eventually break off, rendering the cable almost useless.
