You mentioning the quality of the scope makes me wonder if I should attempt it with some of the other DSO kits I've seen on amazon. Like this $40 kit maybe?

I wonder what parameter I should even look for. Ideally, I'd like the waveform to be as smooth as possible, but not sure if that's something you can adjust manually on these things.
