Ok now you've grabbed MY interest lol. Now that you got me thinking about it, I might be able to just fashion a simple custom lamp shade to an existing vanity fixture. Actually... what I originally had in mind were bulb sockets where I could swap out the lights when necessary, although thinking more about my experience with that, going that old school route seems to fry even LED bulbs randomly. The right kind of LED strips, or perhaps a light bar might indeed work better. I'm hoping for an overall brightness equivalent of like a 200-watt incandescent bulb, which is around 3000K I think, although if they were dimmable that would be even better!
My SO is pretty comfortable with assembling stuff, so if I at least got the necessary materials and drafted the design, he could put them all together for me 🤔 and affixing a light strip or bar onto a back panel is prob more cost effective than using an existing fixture as a base. What do you think about these? Placed parallel to each other in a sort of cascading fashion would give me the length that I'm going for, and it's warm white 3000K. The only thing that makes this particular model not really feasible for my use is that the dimmer isn't a remote - the lamp is going to be placed high enough on the wall (and the cord will be concealed with something to blend in better) where the location of the dimmer dial wouldn't make sense. I normally use those Etekcity wireless switches, which is how it would normally be turned on and off - but even if you can't use those in conjunction with an LED remote, the latter would have its own on/off switch anyway, which would be ok.
Ran outta time to research for now, but if I can find something like this, just with a dimmer remote instead of a dial, then we could construct a rectangular prism out of wire to attach to the base panel, and just wrap a nice rustic fabric around the sides as a simple but effective design element, like this but longer and horizontally oriented. I think this could work! Thank you for convincing me to go this route - if you happen to have a good light bar in mind let me know :-)
