I think this is a good DIY project. I want to hang a Ring floodlight/camera for our backyard.

I can't put it in the current light spot, since the screen door wouldn't clear it.

I'd love to do this myself, but I need detailed advice / guidance.

My beginner understanding is that I will replace the current light fixture box with something like this.

Then I'll extend the wires using this and this conduit.
I'll cut a hole and install this.
And then hang the new fixture.

Anything else I need?

Other questions:I'll need to cover the hole from the old fixture - how do I do that?

And the current fixture is on a light switch - rather than just tape the switch in the on position, how do I take the switch out of the equation, so it is always on?

Alternatively, could I leave the light fixture there and just use that box to extend the power to the new flood light?

Thanks for the advice. Like I said, I'd like to do this myself, but I need some guidance.Thanks.
