I have both AT&t fiber and AT&t u-verse. I use MOCA adapters and they are awesome. I have four adapters in my house counting the one that is at the modem. You don't have to but you probably should either disconnect the coax on the exterior house that goes to the street or install one of these adapters between the street connection and your house. my research said that it helps to keep your network secure and improves the quality a little bit.
