Agreed, but I have found that if you are persistent, only buying Prime items that will facilitate a quick return, you can get a good light for next to nothing. Even had an Amazon CSR tell me to do that to insure I got a good one I was happy with.
Or, you could be like me, have a box full of 2nd quality torches cause either Amazon or the seller doesn't want to pay for the return they just refund you and tell you to keep it. I use them for parts for other projects or since they DO work (just no where near specified levels) I keep a couple around for bright "tosser" lights. One in my truck, one on the boat, spare in my hiking pack, etc. although I do recommend vacuum sealing the torch and batteries separately for pack use. Especially the little <$5.00 "300LM" tactical lights from Amazon. I have three of those that are, IMO, top notch quality. I have about 9 that are junk. I did get this 18650 one, SecurityIng® 650 Lumens 10W Mini XM-L2 Stainless Steel LED Flashlight, again, I got it for Free when I realized the LED listed in the title was not the one installed. Sent pictures, Seller apologized, and refunded immediately. Anyways, still bright as mini-Sun, but also as heavy and hot as it too. Weighs like 1.2 POUNDS w/ cell.
FYI, If you have need for a nice UV-LED torch (My mom collects uranium glass, and I look for it to resell) those little 300LM clones are a GREAT way to grab a few for next to nothing. The Chinese Ultrafire/SK89 clones in UV are actually well made for some reason, haven't gotten a dud yet, but YMMV.
