- I bought this pillow and have LOVED it. I'm a side sleeper who ends up on my stomach, which just kills my back. Overall this has definitely helped my quality of life, even pre and post surgery. That's a hefty penny to be spending, so if you don't think you'll use it outside of recovery I'm not sure if it makes much sense. I could think of many ways to use that outside of surgery (sex, relaxing, etc.), but if it is really just meant for recovery I'd spend less on it.
- I hear some people say leggings were just too much. That's my normal wardrobe too. I have exercise leggings and more casual ones. I haven't attempted my exercise ones since surgery (exactly 2 weeks ago), but I've worn leggings quite a bit since. I haven't attempted jeans, but haven't really worn them the entirety of COVID working from home. I think your normal wardrobe would be fine. I don't normally wear underwear and did for the first 2 days so I could use a pad. Since then I've had literally zero bleeding, so I'm back to commando and doing just fine.
- My surgery was on a Thursday and I was back to work Monday. I was going to be sitting at home anyway, so why not work? I work a very sedentary job and work from home, so I didn't see much difference. I was off my narcotics so I wasn't sending anything crazy or loopy. My boss did alert me that if I needed more time off I was 100% able to take it. Yesterday was going to be my first day back and I'm glad I went back earlier. I would have been bored silly if I just sat at home. I was up and moving day 2 like nothing had happened. I keep having to remind myself to slow down. The first 2 days I made myself lay down after working. By Wednesday I didn't and I definitely over did it. I was just tired. Nothing hurt. My mom did some painting in my house and I stood up talking to her the whole time she was here (4 hours), then I walked to get the mail, then I did 30 minutes on the treadmill at 1mph, and I went to go make some returns and my body was like "are you kidding? go to bed", so I did, and all has still been well. I have a friend who had her surgery 2 weeks before mine and we've been comparing stories throughout. She decided to take the full 6 weeks off work. She works in the office and cannot work from home. I'd have taken more time off if I had to go into the office. My furthest distance walked is from my office to the fridge when I'm working, instead of having to go across an office just to hit the bathroom. I asked if she felt like she needed the whole time, or was just using it as an excuse to take more time off (more power to her! I'm not at all judging) and she admitted she's taking it as a break too. She's a loan officer and hasn't had a second to breathe for a long time. I've been told there is a lot of exhaustion, but I just haven't been feeling that at all. After a telehealth visit yesterday I was given permission to start lifting my dog's butt end up when he falls. He's 16 and needs lots of help. I've been having to call my roommate at 2am to come help him. My roommate never fussed at all, but I'm glad I was able to get the okay to do it myself. I'm not allowed to lift him fully, but helping his butt end after he's put his front end up on the couch or my bed should be fine. I'm a competitive powerlifter and I won't be lifting lifting for a while, which I'm okay with anyway, but doing this bit feels like I've been given some freedom, to which I appreciate. My friend also swelled a LOT more than me. Like, she wasn't able to wear normal pants due to swelling. I didn't have the same experience. I have had appetite issues where my brain says I still want a full meal, but my body isn't interested. Last night was the first time I ate what I would consider my normal amount.
- Bridgerton is holding my attention right now, as is The Queen's Gambit. My only issue with things like this is I don't know where I'd fallen asleep. So I tried watching more mindless stuff without much of a story line to actually have to follow. I played a lot of video games instead. But overall, I wasn't ever "bed ridden" after the same surgery you're going to go through. I also lost an ovary but my other one kicked right in and I'm not experiencing ANY major issues. One of my stitches was pulled too tight. My doc saw it over videochat yesterday and wants to fix it before it actually heals so it doesn't scar like that, which I'm totally agreeing with him on. I hope I can get in this week. But if that is my biggest complaint, I'm doing A-OK!
