is pretty nice if you're into stepping up a bit from Tomato/DDWRT
I think this is the advice I was looking for. Appreciate the tips. Would you mind sharing info on the AT&T radio you got? I'm particularly interested in ensuring what I buy will work with the MVNO SIM I get. I see lots of posts leading me to believe that the major networks don't want you using unlimited data in a hotspot, and for me I don't worry so much. about this b/c it's only for redundancy, but I don't want to end up with a box they don't support because they fear I'm gonna suck a ton of data. Do you also mind sharing which MVNO you use with success on AT&T? Goggle provided some options but I wouldn't mind using a referral code from you if you have one.
Now leaning towards getting the Ubiquity router [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YFJT29C/] since reviews lead me to believe that maybe I can set it up for Dual-WAN failover without having to sacrifice Gigabit speeds when my primary fiber is working fine.
Really appreciate the feedback!
If you want cheap but reliable $40 option:
They are a bit outdated though, but they are cheap and will do north of 750Mbps WAN traffic. I've used them for years and installed a lot for friends/family with no complaints.
If you want the full 1Gbps $130ish option:
Ubiquiti ER-X with a separate AP like a UAP-AC lite.
cheap option is very easy to use and set up out the box Ubiquiti route takes a little bit of configuring but is not difficult but you will never have to mess with it ever again.
Here is a screenshot of my Edgerouter's uptime
Alternatively, I do recommend Google Wifi for $130, which can be meshed with more units to provide a large coverage area in a home that works well, as does the $125 Ubiquiti Amplifi Router which also supports meshing and does it well.
