If you can't find the roux bricks, you can also use a curry powder blend. Just make the roux with an equal amount of flour to your cooking oil (I used 2 tbsp of each), and cook it until golden brown or so before adding your broth.
I believe the two are the exact same product. I assume that the second image is simply an old design or is designed for overseas because that does not include Japanese. Also, this is an Amazon product page using the second image, but the image posted by the buyer shows the first product, so I think it is just an old design for overseas.
