We use a combination of a slicker brush, a grooming comb and a furminator-style deshedding tool.

Ours hated the undercoat rake.

We had to bribe her with treats for months but finally she's good about letting us brush her and has been mat free for a while.

We also need to take her to the groomers for a trim 3x a year, typically around shed seasons.

You want an undercoat rake. I got mine from a company called Aussie dog but looks like they are changing things up on their website at the moment.

Thank you so much for the thoughtful and insightful reply. I'll ditch the equigroomer. I actually just used a undercoat rake on her today hopefully I didn't ruin her coat! I saw this one recommended on another grooming site and ended up using the 17 tooth side mostly, my rake looks different than the one shown on the IWC website. This is what she looks like after her bath and brush with a slicker.
I recently bought one of these: Stripping knives Is this the correct one to get? There are so many versions it's quite overwhelming.

I would suggest brushing her everyday. The link provided by the other commenter is perfect for daily use.

You can also use a dematting bush from time to time. What is great about these is that they get the undercoat of the cat. This will be particularly important around the rear area. They come in various sizes - from large to small. I'd suggest a smaller one for a cat.

Cat's do not need baths. They can be really drying to their skin, and your cat will likely hate you for it. Plus, they have claws and will use them. Instead of bathing, I'd suggest you use a detangling spray. Cats don't like sprays, so instead you could spray it directly onto a grooming wipe or unscented baby wipe and then wipe her down with it.

Lastly, if she has hairballs, you can get her a hairball remedy like this. Cats are finicky about these, so don't be surprised if she doesn't like the first one. It's always hit or miss with cats.

I hope I didn't overwhelm you with all the links. But feel free to ask any more questions. I'm happy to help! Cheers to you and Ahri!

I use this one and I love it. Its a beast. This is the one brush that my boss, a groomer of 10 years who introduced me to every brush I know, used to borrow from me instead of me borrowing from her for once lol.

For some reason all the bernese and pyreneese clients request me, so... it puts in work for sure.
