I know this thread is not recent but I wanted to let you know that I contacted Dräger on this issue and they told me the Small and Large masks are the same length and width but the sides are welded at different lengths, which makes the difference in how they fit.

I read that Amazon USA already sells the small one.

Quick suggestion for you now that they are on Amazon (previously had to order through German distributor!): Drager 1920 - or for US, Drager 1950 - though they may be out of stock at the moment. These are a *fundamentally different, and objectively better mask than the 1700 series*.

I'm not certain they will work on a truly smaller face, but for both me and my not-large wife, these are a dream in terms of fit and comfort, and in rigorous testing show elite results at least on par with Auras.
