I'm a beginning bassist and just went through this a few months ago, so I can help here.
From Amazon, these are the best I've found:
Dunlop Bass Pick Variety Pack: https://www.amazon.com/Jim-Dunlop-Guitar-Picks-PVP117/dp/B08463YDPQ/ref=sr_1_4?crid=2FUU61M3YJI3I&keywords=dunlop+bass+pick&qid=1658113875&sprefix=dunlop+bass+pick+%2Caps%2C128&sr=8-4
V-Pick screamers from Amazon are my favorites. They are pricey, but last forever and are very comfortable and easy to hold. Recommended by someone on Reddit, these worked out great! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01G5KMG0U/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Dunlop .6 Tortex: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00I9ERDFE?ref=nb_sb_ss_w_as-reorder-t1_ypp_rep_k0_1_7&&crid=2YAHMBHAAKXPB&&sprefix=dunlop+
Felt Picks, for practicing at night with headphones. Also, they sound awesome: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XWS7X23/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The best bang for the buck was the Dunlop Bass Variety Pack, at 4 bucks. Definitely get these. There are lots of options to try. And maybe one V-Pick. They are pricey, but worth it. That's what I use most of the time.
I also tried the Dunlop guitar variety packs and other random picks, and found a few keepers, though most won't work well for bass. The Dunlop .6 are an exception. Those are great. Also tried the Stubby bass pick, because it is pretty and I heard that Carlos D used those back in the day. But I found it to be a very slippery and slow pick, and I don't recommend it.
