I was looking around Amazon and found this weird NVME to USB adapter.
Based on the tech specs I am assuming this adapter has the ever-popular rtl9210b chip, but that's not explicitly stated anywhere. I don't know of anything else that does both NVME and SATA so I don't know what else it would be.
Normally these rtl9210b adapters go for $17 or more in the USA (sometimes much more). This one is mega cheap at $7. That's a liquidation price right there. They probably want some reviews since the listing page doesn't have any.
While it has the chip I like in my NVME to USB adapters, the chassis is whack. Like smokin reefer huffin ether whack yo. I think that's how they named it (and designed it).
Relative to other adapters like this, it's huge. It's the fat blunt of NVME to USB adapters. It's so huge you can fit a heat sink inside their heat sink for heat sinkception. This might be good if you've got a SSD with a heat sink that you don't want to take off, but for normal SSDs it's a downside because air isn't a good conductor of heat and that whole thing is just going to be a big oven inside. And, because it's so huge, getting thermal pad contact between the shell and the SSD isn't going to happen without a solid block of custom-milled aluminum.
That all having been said, it's dirt cheap, and I have a bunch of cheap low-end NVME drives that I use for Win2Go and custom linux booters. They don't get hot and I wouldn't care if they did anyway, so it doesn't matter.
WARNING: The product page info claims "2242/2260/2280" compatibility, 2230 being notably absent. This thing may not fit 2230 sized drives (without an adapter board).
I found a good video review of it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRPWuJDjtvQ
Product page here has some info like dimensions: https://www.unitek-products.com/products/solidforce-reefer-either-usb-c-to-m-2-ssd-nvme-sata-enclosure
