So, I'm 2 weeks out from my mastectomy and wanted to circle back around to say what I found useful and what I haven't.

Elastic waistband surgical drain holders - these have been a godsend. I am getting my second drain removed later today so I am almost done using them, but MAN what a difference it makes.

Wedge pillow - the first few days I tried sitting up a bunch, but quickly realized that reclining was best for my back and pain management. I'm using it right now while I make this post. Super important.

Mastectomy pillow - I haven't used the straps as much, but having this oddly shaped pillow, which is so super soft and has pockets for a phone & glasses, has been instrumental. My kitty loves it too, and it's fluffy enough that he can crawl up onto my (good) shoulder for pets and snuggles.

Tilting overbed table - I've used it both tilted and non-tilted. I'm so enjoying it that I think I will keep using it even after recovery.

Recovery robe with drain pockets- in the first few days I lived in this, but later I preferred the drain belt linked above. The weight of the fabric is really nice though, and it was very functional.

I also have been LOVING my Pajamagram button-down PJs. Super soft and pretty.

I've barely used the ice gel packs I got, and my surgeon does not want me to apply ANY oil or lotion to the incision area, so I haven't used the Vit E oil I got, but I have been moisturizing the skin AROUND the incision.

Pro tip - if you have a SLNB along with your mastectomy, be sure to keep your arm elevated and your armpit open as much as you can. Not only is it more painful than any other area post-op, I have had two clogs in the drain system after sleeping all night with my arm at my side, and clogs are a total pain. I cannot WAIT to get this f*^%ing thing removed today. The drain site is BY FAR more irritated and painful than the incision.
