/r/Workspaces may be able to help a bit here. I’ve seen some really cool things done with small spaces on that sub.

I have one of these that I use around the office when I meet with co-workers who don’t have much desk space, and it’s worked out well for a few years. You would also be surprised what a couple of monitor/laptop mounting arms with VESA mounts would do for space.
