Could you please link to the news on 3rd party cables melting?
There is no "news" on 3rd party cables melting.
OP is trying to stir the pot on third party cables cause he either saw the review himself on Amazon about a no-name branded extension cable ("Sirlyr") with a shady review that says the cable melted his 4090 and "his friend's too."
The item in question is here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B1QJSKV8
There's like a 99% chance that review is made up to steer people away from that no-name cable, given no photo evidence or any detail or anything. That kind of thing happens all the time between no-name/knock-off brands on Amazon that are trying to "compete" with each other and their no-name/knock-off items that probably come from the same factory/supply line. That Sirlyr cable even has some fairly long, positive reviews from other buyers supposedly using it on their 4090s on there as well.
Also, there are at least a few people on this sub that have bought and are using this Sirlyr cable, with at least some success, as I JUST asked /u/SyntheticElite about it in the last couple of hours cause I was curious myself.
