I grabbed a couple of these (1.8A) Playbook chargers, I guess RIM is good for something after all:

The blackberry folding blade charger

See an explanation of its awesomeness here.

If you live near a large goodwill/value village/etc go check and see, they might have one! i've seen those at the big thrift store near me more than once.

accept no substitutes. everything else costs more and either works just as good or not as well. its built like a brick like the old nokia chargers, too.

EDIT: cheaper, reputable seller

I got 3 of these guys for $20 and they totally work for fast charging.

Cable is nice and long. One lives in my main travel bag, one is in my living room. One used to be next to my bed, but I got a wireless charger, so that one currently migrated to the office, but it'll be my first backup if I leave my travel one behind somewhere.

May I recommend a charger here? The BlackBerry Playbook Charger is a 1.8A charger that will actually charge at 1.8A since it's a first-party charger designed for micro-USB devices (unlike many third party chargers by Anker or Belkin or whoever). Apple devices and basically all other devices use different methods of detecting whether the device is connected to a computer USB port or dedicated charger that are incompatible with each other. Unfortunately, most third-party peripherals are designed for Apple devices, so they will charge at only 0.5A (the max amount that is drawn from a computer USB port) instead of what is advertised.

Also, don't bother with "couple buck" chargers on ebay, as the circuitry in them is actually much lower quality.

I don't have the link but one of the android websites did a comparison and I believe the Blackberry Rapid charger won. Got it for my Mom and it is awesome!

I'm using this one that I saw someone post here before. However, some seller had it on sale for $1.30 shipping included when I got it... I think that person wised up though when they got a spike in orders from the post.

This is the best one you'll find. It charges the phone at least twice as fast as the original and is a good bit longer: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004OZMWUS/ref=ya_aw_oh_bia_dp?ie=UTF8&psc=1
