For organic stains (non-petroleum oil/grease, food, blood, etc.) Zout is the best stain remover I've used. Just make sure you get the spray with the blue spray tip red bottle label and not the foam (which has a blue label). Spray the stains and then scrub with a laundry stain brush or toothbrush, let sit for 15 mins, then wash in the hottest water the fabric will tolerate (check garment labels for shrinkage). Check the stain before drying and repeat if the stain is still present. The enzymes break down the stain and work best with heat. Kroger-affiliated stores carry Zout. Walmart carries the foam version, but it's just watered down with a foaming spray nozzle. If the stain is possibly a petroleum-based oil/grease, you should try the Dawn Platinum Powerwash spray, or the liquid dish soap. This would include makeup with a mineral oil or silicone base, automotive oil/grease, rust preventative grease, etc. Apply to the stain and scrub with a brush, add a little water and scrub some more, let sit for 15 mins, then launder at the warmest temperature allowable. Enzymes won't break down this type of grease, but degreasers will (like the Dawn commercials with the oil-soaked baby duckies).
