Those were in my line-up! Those, these, and these. I leaned towards the long-skinnies because (1) they seem to milk more angle; (2) they're compatible with my laptops, which have small strips of flat plate. I only didn't choose that last one because it's too expensive ($50 for 4); but it does give the largest angle, and looks very sturdy. Oh and it doesn't have a rubber tip, I'm sure it'd slide a bunch.
How do you like yours? Does it give enough tenting?
I have the 9710 as well threw in a 2TB 970 EVO and 8TB Muskin Alpha and both SSD's always remain cool unless I'm transferring 100 gigs of data. Couple that was video rendering which draws a lot of heat and my best remedy so far would be this fan cooler linked below.
I actually use the cooling pad backwards with the intake in the front of the XPS as to draw in cool air and avoid recycling the hot air that comes out of the exhaust from back of 9710. The cooler fans is very powerful. I also leave a quarter inch cap behind the laptop and cooler for better airflow. After going through many coolers, this is by far the best I've tried.
When I'm not at home and on the road, I installed these risers at the bottom of my XPS
