We use these dinosaur lights as a night light. They come with small remotes to on/off, change color, and adjust brightness. One charge lasts a night or two. Our son enjoys playing with the lights during the day too.
I also use my hiking headlamp which has a red light function and it's helpful for automotive work, crawl spaces, etc. Not exactly the same one I have but pressing and holding the on the button for a couple seconds goes directly to red mode. They make rechargeable ones but I just use rechargeable AAA's. The manuals are available on the manufacturer's website.
Many cheap headlamps have a red light function now too. Again, I would check the manufacturer's website to download the product manual to see if you need to cycle through.
