I'm all about nato rails and mounts so that you can quickly add/remove parts without tools on set. This guy has a dozen rig builds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1i-DC5JkME

Keep the foam the Ninja comes in and put it in any random case. I started with this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002VPE1QG/ Just put a spare camera bag divider on top of the Ninja foam.

On big shoots with 3 Ninja Vs, I still use the foam and put them in an old drone case.

I use this one - for me it holds a GBC, GBA, games, spare batteries and a transfer cable.

The Behringer CT100 tester and that Sound Tools XLR Sniffer are essential gig bag tools for me, and both inexpensive enough to qualify as top tier gift ideas.

A small carrying case for the Sniffer/Sender and all your other lil bits and bobs is a great gift idea as well. I used this one for a while as a tiny troubleshooting case, and when I outgrew it I moved to this one which now holds the sniffer/sender, all those dongles and adapters, an external hard drive, buncha short USB/Ethernet cables and hubs, and a few other small things that come and go depending on the gig.

This is a pretty solid organizer/case for carrying around.

Man, it's pretty nice - every morning I get up and it's something new to work on - I get to interview really fascinating people, l always have a reason to buy some cool gear. But I worked my ASS off to get there - there were some really hard years. But I realized another cubicle gig would just destroy me, there was no choice! It's really cool to have all my work in my house (we bought an old duplex, I get the upstairs living/dining/kitchen/breakfast nook). I've got some decent shooting space, I've even built some wild sets (that one freaked the Mrs. out!), I can work on client stuff, then shoot some tabletop for someone else, run in the darkroom and make a mask or do a test, then go matte a print and back to editing or whatever. It's schizo, but I'm never bored at least.

Yeah, I can't believe the weight I've stuffed in that cheap bag. Amazon also makes a little electronics case, it's handy as hell. I use it for all my wireless mic stuff (transmitters, batteries, mics, lots of tape and bandage-ey stuff for hiding mics, too), or if I take a trip I can dump that stuff and use it for film, phone and batteries, and odds & ends. It's held up great.
