These are a little different because they're more products than ideas, but I figured I'd share some random tools I've used, mostly to help with my poor grip strength.

Edit: lots of Amazon links, but you can find a lot of these items elsewhere.

  • use a nutcracker/lobster cracker to open containers with small, tight lids (the one I linked even comes with a little bag)

  • Weight Lifting Hooks like these to help open doors (work in progress, I actually cut the hook off one and attached a different strap, but could still be improved.) Also good for lifting things like buckets.

  • strap wrench for twisting/opening things

  • flexible wire/foam quick tie - I've used something like this to wrap around things I have a hard time holding, or that I wanted to hang (for example, a wheelchair charger while traveling so I could hang it from the chair).

  • I have tons of plants: to make it easier to water them, I use a fountain pump connected to a spray wand. Much less effort than lifting a watering can (as long as there is an easy way to fill your reservoir).

  • Edit: for wheelchair users or anyone who has difficulty shifting around, these transfer slides make it a lot easier (can be found elsewhere besides Amazon)
