Here is the microphone he used on stream. I have used it before to record vocals and it sounds pretty good but it is definitely a little tinny/hissy sounding so you will have to mess around with the eq.
Ok, so I am on the road a lot and since December 2020 I have tweaked my road audition gear when flying (I am a one-bag carry on traveler when I fly - no matter how long my stay - and my bags are all 28L or less in volume). I will list the equipment I take (it's what works for me - you can use it as a jumping-off point maybe).
Using this setup I have booked on Netflix, STARZ, and two NBC shows. All were just co-stars but really all you need is to be seen and heard with a solid or less distracting wall behind you. 90% of the time your phone and natural light will be enough.
iPhone SE 2020 or if I know in advance I have a scheduled EcoCast Live while I'll be on the road, I'll take this webcam.
If I take a light, I take this one. But I don't really use it much anymore as I can work with either natural lighting or the harsh hotel lights with little issues.
I also travel with this tripod. because setting up the camera on whatever is laying around in the hotel is too stressful for me lol. I have friends that use this one, but I have not since I like my little plastic one.
I also take this microphone for any VO auditions I get. It's a fantastic travel mic and I've booked two serial podcasts with it.
All the projects I've booked are union at scale.
Is some of this overkill? Probably, but it takes up so little room in my bag that I don't mind traveling with it. The bare minimum for me when I travel is the tripod since my iPhone is with me anyways.
For context, these are the bags I use when I fly (I only use one per trip), I am a larger middle-aged woman (my clothes can take up a lot of space, so I wear a lot of Merino Wool blend and do laundry on the road to minimize clothing).
Pacsafe Vibe 28L I LOVE this bag.

Got some of them for talent once, so long as you walk them through how to use it, the recordings turn out pretty great. Maybe on the $$$ side though?
Plus it’s so easy for them to send you the recordings.
