Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. It's been a crazy summer and I really hate formatting multiple links on mobile.
The following are a few items I bought mostly off of Amazon and for the most part, still haven't run out of almost a year later.
Finger Traps: My bird attacks these with verve. It's actually a bit terrifying to see her go at them, but I know she's having fun and that's the important part.
Drinking Straws: Didn't go over great, but she'll play with them if she gets bored with her other toys.
Vine Rings: I combined these with other things like sisal rope that I got from Home Depot and made all kinds of things, reusing the rings and discarding the rope and other items like the finger traps. Until she figured out that the rings are shreddable, anyway.
Coffee Stir Sticks: These seem to appeal a bit to her need to wreck thing and preen at the same time. Since they're just raw wood, they can be dyed with food coloring for a bit of variety, but I haven't gotten the hang of that yet.
Carabiners: Gotta hang up all the toys somehow.
Craft Foam: My bird goes INSANE over this stuff. I have no idea why, but it's pretty much her favorite thing to rip apart, ever.I cut it into varying shapes and just run some rope through the middle. She takes care of the rest.
I think the only other thing I've used that's not listed here is zip ties, but I"m sure you know what those are. They hold everything together and I don't have to worry about toxic adhesives or anything, which is nice.
If you have any questions or need help with ideas, let me know. This list is really just a drop in the bucket when it comes to DIY bird toys! After you start making them, you really start to notice all the things that work for your fid.
