I prefer metal needles, too. When I first got back into knitting in 2020, I bought this cheap set of metal needles from Amazon. I actually liked them. They had good tips on them, and were very lightweight. They also came with some nice extras -- stitch markers, tapestry needles, and a measuring tape. It came with US sizes 0, 1-1/2, 2-1/2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and one weird size of 7.0mm (which doesn't equate to any US size). It did NOT include sizes 1, 2, 3, or 5, though; so I bought those sizes from Boye.
Having all these different sizes let me play around with any yarn or stitch I wanted to try, without making a big investment. Then, when I decide on a project I want to do, I buy a nice set of needles for that project. My favorites are Addi Turbo Rockets. They are VERY slick -- you can knit very fast with them. And the tips of them are very tapered points. Very high quality!
