Here's a link to the mug: https://www.amazon.com/Rochere-6388-01_482-Coffee-Cups-Clear/dp/B07DB3YTDC ... and here's a link to the coaster that I wanted to use, but quickly figured out that was NOT the move for my skill level: https://www.westelm.com/products/half-dipped-metal-coasters-set-of-4-e2196

I'd welcome ideas on how to approach the coaster I initially wanted, though I'll probably complete some other tutorials before revisiting this. I did some real messy, back-alley shit to get the bees on there.

For fun and posterity, some things I learned:

  • Glass is so easy to make, and I thought it'd be the most difficult part. Who knew?
  • I really don't have enough of a foundation to dick around yet, as much as I'd love to. Back 2 School!
  • Poliigon is amazing. I used free marble and stainless-steel textures here, but not before buying credits because I thought I had to (lmao). Probably a rite of passage, and Andrew deserves every dime anyway, so I'm not mad about it.
  • Creating objects that you physically own feels extra nice because you don't need to think as hard when it comes to dimensions or material behavior. Will probably have my first few from-scratch projects be small things around my apartment.
