There is a correlation between infrared and pigmentation, and possibly (but not known for sure) correlation between infrared and long term effect of aging , but there is also a ton of research that says infrared is great for the skin.
We have been talking about this for a couple of months because the evidence is unclear. So much is obvious in light therapy that it's difficult to be in the position of not knowing if something might be a bad idea.
Amber is fine.
Red is fine.
Infrared is probably GOOD and has the potential to bring out pigmentation.
The device is useful.
do not wear sunscreen. When you introduce a barrier between the light and target, you change the body's ability to absorb the light, and you also can change the sunscreen's chemistry.
It is not potentially dangerous, it is potentially but not likely a source of pigmentation. The aging thing is purely theory, I know of no evidence that it causes aging, as UV is what causes photo damage, not infrared.
One way to block the effect of infrared on pigmentation (if you are prone to that response, and you might not be) is to add blue to your treatment, either at the same time or after the infrared.
This light is $169 on Amazon is that about what you paid? Just checking I'm looking at the one you got, is it this?
