I think maybe an easy way to deal with it would be to wear one of those wide cloth headbands and have your hair in a ponytail or bun. You could even add one of those clip in messy buns or ponytails to add something extra to the hair that is tied back if you wanted.

Be careful if you wear long synthetic hair as it can singe if you get too close to a camp fire.
