I'm currently running a prototype using:

  • 1 old igloo cooler
  • 3x Mr Coffee cup warmers
    • Simple on/off, and I don't think it has any auto-shut off
    • Three of them can get my cooler to 140. At first they do have a strong burning plastic smell but it seems to have dissipated after a few hours of use
    • I started with only two, but found it seemed to top out at around 115 after several hours of being on. Adding a 3rd helps the cooler get to 140 a lot faster
  • 1x Inkbird WiFi ITC-308 temperature controller
    • Controls turning the cup warmers on/off to maintain temp
    • Connects to wifi and has an app so you can monitor the temp and make changes
  • 1x HoMedics Humidifier
    • I like this one because it has an on/off button, and if you leave it on, it'll turn on when controlled by a humidistat.
  • 1x Inkbird Humidity controller
    • Controls turning the humidifer on/off to maintain humidity

I want to build a bigger better version. The downside of this version is that due to its small size, the humidity is difficult to keep constant. Even setting the bounds to 1%, humidity set to 75% will fluctuate between 70 and 90%.

Yea, for sure - it was Homedics Personal Ultrasonic Humidifier. I did a price match at Bed Bath and Beyond, so I can't speak to purchasing via Amazon.

I will say that the humidifier doesn't last all night - I think around 3:30am it would run out, after being turned on around 11:30. But for what it's worth it did the job it was intended to do. I just wish it had an auto-turn off feature. However, super easy set up too - just not a big tank - which makes sense since it's a lot smaller than a regular humidifier (you can hold it in the palm of your hand)

Humidifiers are great. Last year I was hospitalized with a bout of pneumonia and since then I've been sleeping with a humidifier. I won't be traveling without my travel one now.

I use this humidifier: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005JSD2EE?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

It has an on/off switch but if you leave it switched on it’ll turn on when hooked up to a humidistat like this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01J1E5LWM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
