I'm in the market too, so I don't have experience. But one thing I thought I'd mention about Wi-Fi signal... You could get an extender just for the garage pretty cheaply, like from TP-Link. I have one and have never had any problems. Most smart devices require the cheaper 3.2MHz signal anyway. I think I got mine refurbished on Amazon for about 10 - 15 bucks (https://smile.amazon.com/TP-Link-Extender-Extenders-Internet-Supports/dp/B08R6DKS88/ref=psdc_172504_t3_B08DHLCLCY)

For a little more, you can get even better ones with a little more range, if needed.
