You need the OTC version instead of the expensive brand-name version. Email the doc's office and ask for another version as that one isn't covered by your insurance -- there's a cheaper on one Amazon, for instance. The email could go:

"Good morning! I was prescribed xxxxxxxxx, but it's not covered by my insurance. Would this work just as well?
