I was stuck in bed for almost 4 months. I couldn’t hold a book/phone, couldn’t look up to watch tv or even use a pillow. So I bought a laptop desk for bed and it worked great for me (size of the person may affect the use). I watched tv through a laptop/phone, took classes online, painted, journaled, read. I still use it to work when my back flairs up.
If your friend can use a pillow, I recommend a pregnancy pillow. It allows me to adjust my body in different ways.
Hobbies: I started learning a lot. Used websites to upgrade my skills (LinkedIn learning, Coursera, Udemy..). 1 year post accident and despite my limitations (cant stand/sit for long hours) , I was able to score a higher paying job. My new job understands my challenges and are super supportive. All things to mastering my skill sets!
