Is it though? Quick Amazon search shows $13 for a keychain tag and 10 sticker-type tags. The Skip is $10.50 for a cloth pin-on tag and 3 stickers. Moreover, the Moto X comes with software already made to pair with the Skip tags.
You can definitely set it up to work with other NFC tags, but you have to do a bit of legwork. Whether that's worth being able to use those extra stickers is up to you. I'm not going to mess around with it.
