make sure you read the reviews about cleaning. and keep in mind that it cooks with air and the heating element is on the top. so when food, grease, seasonings splatter or pop they can become stuck to the element, and after cooking (and cooling) you need to wipe the element off too.
I had a 4qt Philips and used it for about 3 years, then gifted it to my brother in law and got a large Ninja foodie 5 in one (I am in love with this thing) so for a basket air fryer, it needs to be large enough to hold 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts at a time for (one person) and be able to hold enough fries for 2 to 4 people. also food does need to be turned over or... shaken depending on what is in the fryer. also look into liners for the fryer so that you don't have to worry about the coating at all.
this one looks like a good one for him.

It's the vortex 4-in-1mini. Last time, I just used it without the grill and put everything in the bottom of the tray. I got a deal and bought it for only $40. It doesn't have tons of features but generally good reviews. (wirecutter and other)
