I will second this. I took my 5.11 Rush 24 on a shortish hike with just water bottles, snacks and a few others things. I was feeling it after a few miles. Started me rethinking my goals and uses for the bag. It's nice for a grab it and go scenario and prepacked, but you'll regret it if you have it on your back everywhere.

REI has some good deals on packs right now. Some Gregory and Deuter packs. Their labor day and extra % off clearance sale is going on too.

The tactical ones are maybe tougher, but a lot heavier.

I just bought this one: Osprey Men's Atmos 50 AG Backpacks, Graphite Grey, Large https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PZKTHK4/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_jb26vbTWW2A9T

Admittedly it's 4x the price but it's fantastic on your shoulders and clavicles. You can easily do 4-6x the weight of the tactical bag in the OP link.

The atmos ag 65 is even bigger and only $20 more on amazon.

Those are fantastic labor day prices btw. The first one I linked is usually $230 at REI and most other places since they don't go on sale often. Plus it's got a hydration area for a bladder of at least 3L.

This one is smaller, but about half the price but doesn't have Anti gravity shoulder straps.

Osprey Packs Stratos 24 Backpack, Pine Green, Medium/Large https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E0EV2F4/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_Ki26vbYVTR83R

There's also a 34/36L but Amazon may be out of the larger sizes.

I've been looking myself lately and liked the newer osprey atmos/Stratos line because of the mesh that holds the pack away from your back and keeps you dry. The atmos adds other features like the antigravity shoulder straps which are heavenly.

It depends how much walking/hiking you expect to do and what you want to put in the pack. These bags are designed to be lifter, shift weight from shoulders to hips, as well as other hiking/camping features. The material is basically parachute nylon though so really heavy stuff will poke, fatigue and eventually wear them out. (which is why the military uses material more like the tactical bags, canvas and strong stiff components).

These aren't bags to lug knives, guns, precious metals, etc.

Clothing, food, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, water, etc.... They were made for that.
