so YMMV, but you will most likely have to remove it to get the old weather stripping out. I believe it's glued on. my painter removed all the weather stripping that was on it, so I originally installed the pillar with none actually. I was able to just slide the Amazon stripping in the gaps.

it might be worth trying to see if the old stripping is brittle enough to pull out? not too sure.

I went for the 6mm wide variant. overall I'm happy with how it looks at least, versus some other alternatives I've seen like caulking and tape.

I went for the 6mm for $15 and it worked perfectly. had a lot of extra left too.
